Fife welcomed the fantastic digital team from IMG to film a promo for The Open and event patron, Mercedes.
The Open is the oldest and most prestigious golf championship in the world and the only Major held outside the United States.
It is played over links courses across the UK. A links course is by the coast and is a reminder that golf was originally developed through playing on beaches. Actually one of the earliest competitions was for women who played while waiting for their men to return from fishing. The women's role was to gut the fish and take them in a creel, a large basket, to markets in towns and cities. Perhap needless to say, the prize was a creel.
The Open is always particularly special when it's played at the world home of golf, St. Andrews, also home to Scotland's oldest university.
It's run by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club, known as the R&A, that also has its home in St. Andrews overlooking the famed Old Course and is the world authority for golf outside the USA.
TayScreen, the regional screen office, was delighted to help with film locations and you can see the amazing Fife coast near St. Andrews in the video.
Take a look at the video at Sky Sports.
The best golfers come from all over the world for a chance to win the Claret Jug and be crowned Champion Golfer of the Year.
It is broadcast in over 190 countries worldwide and key broadcasters include Sky and NBC.
You can watch the Open (and see more beautiful locations) at Sky Sports, NBC Golf and many others (mostly paywall).
