Synopsis
Dayashankar (Amrish Puri) is wealthy and living in London. He adores his daughter, Pooja (Madhuri Dixit) and his wife Parvati (Reema Lagoo). He also takes care of his deceased friend's son Aman (Saif Ali Khan). Aman and Pooja have grown up together and he has fallen for her. A student in Edinburgh, he is delighted to come and stay with the family in London and prepares to ask Pooja to marry him. However she has fallen in love with Vijay Khanna (Akshay Kumar), a pilot. Her father is bitterly opposed to this relationship as she is already promised to Aman. Despite being heartbroken, Aman (and Parvati) persuade Dayashankar to allow Pooja's wishes. However tragedy strikes when Vijay is killed in a plan crash. After Pooja goes into depression and finds out she is pregnant with Vijay's child, her father convinces her to marry Aman. She begins to love Aman and soon forgets about Vijay. Meanwhile it emerges that Vijay is still alive and has come to London to find Pooja. It also turns out that the plane crash was planned by her father. Finally Aman dies and Vijay and Pooja are re-united.
